About EGR

East Grand Rapids is part of the major Grand Rapids metropolitan area in west Michigan.

Traditionally, this area has been known for award-winning school system, affluence, its elegant style homes and quality residential living. The highlight of this area is Gaslight Village, with a traditional style decor, a great place for Saturday afternoon shopping. It also features a park on Reeds Lake waterfront, with a well-developed walking trail along the lake for several miles to the north.

East Grand Rapids was originally settled in 1832 by Ezra and Lew Reed. It incorporated into a village in 1891 and later as a city in 1926.

At the time of the 2000 census, the population was 10,764.
